I am sitting here, in my quite house, going through the mental check list of things I have to do before tomorrow.  What is tomorrow? My first day back to work in about four months. After 8 weeks of bed rest and 8 weeks home with the baby tomorrow is the day. My lunch and breakfast are packed, to go coffee cup is at the ready, stuff for the babies new sitter in the car (so I don’t forget it), first semester grades completed and turned in, and lesson plans done. On paper I am ready. I was only at this school for three weeks when I had to take leave so going back is like starting new all over. There have been many ups and down is the time I have been off. I am doing the best I can to focus on the positive and not dwell on the unknown of how I am going to make this work.

When I get up in the morning it is truly going to be a new day and a new chapter of my life.

Mother of 3 – 7 years, 3 years, and 2 months

High School and Elementary Vocal music director

Church Choir Director

Adjunct Prof. Of Education with two online class (one I am teaching for the first time)

Wife of a band director

I know there is much more to my life than that and that I am defined by more then this. But when I look at that list I think “How is this possible? How can I make this work?”  We will see my friends and I hope you are there to see me through and lend me support. I will do my best to give you an up date tomorrow night on how it went. It is a Wednesday so I have church choir after my first full day of teaching in four months…I may pass out as soon as I get home!

Thankful vs. Grateful July 25, 2012

Surprise baby has gotten me thinking about a lot of different things but the one that has made the biggest change in my life is being grateful. I had this realization that I have been thankful for all of the things we have but I am not sure if I have been grateful for the things I have. I feel that I have never been content with what I have and have been trying to move to the next level in many parts of my life.

When I found out we were having #3 and I was 20 weeks into things I started to stress about how we were all going to fit, and function, in our 3 bedroom 1 bath house. Then my husband and I went to pick up the baby things that I friend of mine from high school wanted to give us and I was reminded that they had chosen to live in a camper with three small kids for three years. His was in the military and they lived in 8 states in 5 years so the camper made things simpler for them.  They had 3 kids in 3 1/2 years and lived in a camper. I am sooo grateful that we have a house and room for us all to be.

I was stressing about not having anything for this baby because we had passed it all on to others. My friends from high school gave us almost everything we needed. I still did not have a big stroller or a high chair but other people I know are passing theirs on two us. With out people like this I don’t know what I would have done. My husbands aunt and sister are so good about handing down boy clothes so that my 3 year old and this baby will have clothes. My 6 year old is the oldest girl so I pass on her things but we don’t get many hand me downs for her. I am grateful she has loving grandparents that make sure she has the clothes she needs.

I could go on but I am sure you get the idea. I am just really learning to appreciated what we have in the way of family, friends, and the hard work my husband and I put into making things work. It has been very humbling.

I know I have not put up a new post in some time and I am sorry. I do have a good reason. About a week and a half ago I found out I was 20 weeks and 5 days pregnant. I will not get into all of the fine points but it is a boy and he is doing just fine. This was a big shock! I know you are saying “How did she not know?”  Those are some of the fine points I am talking about but trust me when I say everyone that knows the entire story does not think I am crazy for missing this. I do plan on posting still but there may be some time in between post as I know have about 6 weeks until I start a new job about about 18 or less until I have a baby. Hope you are all up for this! Guess I need to add a baby section to the blog now!

Part of the reason I am doing the blog is to try and save time, save money, and get organized. So I am going to share things from other bloggers.   If they have done something that works then they need the credit.  There are lots of good cleaning check list and meal planers that work well and I am not going to take the time to remake them.  I will take the time to pass them on!

Here we go. June 20, 2012

So where do I start?

I am a mom of two, wife, full time vocal music teacher, part time church choir director, and teach graduate classes online for the local university. So you could say that I have a lot going on.

On this blog I am going to attempt to get my life, and house, in order and let you watch. I am going to share things I do to save a dime, try (and I do me try) to stay organized,  how I spend time with my family, and whatever more seems to fit.

Some things I know I will be sharing with you will be:

Line drying

Paperless kitchen

DIY projects

Organization

Meal plans (when I get them done)

Reviews of things I have made from Pinterest.

Freezer Cooking

Time Savers

Couponing tips

Overall my goal is to get my life in shape and build a group of people doing the same thing. Remember we can do this!

Sound like something you can relate to and what to read more about? Follow me and we will take over the world…or maybe take back the  kitchen counter ….but you have to start some place right? Please under stand this page is a work in progress and I will add more as soon as I can.

See you soon!
