When Do I Sit Down?

Modern mom just trying to make it!

33 year old mother of 3 July 8, 2013

Well in less then 24 hours I will be 33. I do believe that age is just a number and I don’t really make plans about what I want to have accomplished by any age. ( I only had one goal and that was to be done having kids at 30 – we had a baby in November so that did not work)

The last year was a mess with an unexpected pregnancy , new job, and bed rest. My life, and my family, spent most of the year is total upheaval trying to figure out, in 4 months, how are life was going to work with a 5th person. With the loss of income from bed rest I made 1/2 of what we where planing and added a baby to the mix.

I sit here on vacation on Edisto Island, SC with my kids, sisters and there partners, and my mom and step dad and think about how lucky I am. (Wish my husband was able to come but he has one last trip to KS to compleat his Masters) I have a family that has stood by me during this last year and has be generous with their time, love, and even money at times.

This is my new start. New baby, new AMAZING job, and so much to look forward too. Here come my big kids so I am going to stop here and play with them. Got to spend the time with them when I can.

TO GO mug TO STAY June 3, 2013

When I am home and trying to get things done I have a bad habit of poring my coffee (or opening a Coke) and walking away from it. When you don’t sit down most of the day it is an easy thing to do. I have been reading the blog A Slob Comes Clean a lot the last few days (LOVE this blog). I have been using it as motivation to clean the house. I have been trying to do small tasks whenever I can. Getting a lot done but that meas less sitting and more leaving my coffee.  I remembered something thins morning…a TO GO cup!

This way when I poor my coffee and walk away it is still warm when I come back! I took it with me to drop the big kids off, when I feed the baby when I got home, and it is sitting next to me right now keeping my coffee warm for when I get a chance to take my next drink. Simple things that make me smile!  : )

Penny Pinching Patio Project – An Update – Here Comes The Rain Again May 29, 2013

Well I have gotten next to nothing done on the patio because it WILL NOT STOP RAINING!!!!!!!! (the fact that are basement floods makes this even worse…ugggggg).  I did move the flower pots out to the patio and then had to move them back up to the house because the rain un-potted some of the plants. Yep, pushed them out of the pots roots and all. I did take some photos!

Not much yet but it is getting there. I moved the kids bench from the deck but I still need big people seating. My middle child just turned 4 so I asked for a swimming pool for his birthday. If it EVER stops raining we will get it put up.

For mothers day I got a nice little pot with my babies feet on it. I think it is a sweet little touch.

Holidays on a dime – Sing it!!! December 7, 2012

“The best way to spread Christmas Cheer, is singing loud for all to hear.” Elf got it right if you ask me! You do have to remember that we are a family that has two music teachers as parents. Music is such a big part of the holidays so join in. It can be a simple as a family singalong at home. Handle’s Messiah is preformed all the time at Christmas and lots of times you can find a sing-a-long Messiah. Even if you are not a Christen this is a lot of fun and it is an important part of music history. You don’t have to go out and get new music. You can find holiday songs on Youtube, the radio, the music chanel on the TV, and at the library. My kids love the song Feliz Navidad we hear it on the radio and look it up on Youtube. I don’t own most of my favorite holiday music but I can find it when I need it. Don’t know were to start on Youtube or looking for some new songs? Here are links to three of my favorite!

DIY Orange Vinegar December 3, 2012

I love to clean with vinegar but there are some members of my family that do not like the smell. In order to help keep the peace I am making orange vinegar to clean with. It is very easy and my kids think it is fun to do. All you need is a jar, some orange peals (mine are clementines), and a jar. Simple put your peals in a jar with the white vinegar and let it sit for a few days. It is that simple! I then put the orange vinegar back in the bottle the white vinegar cam out of and mark the label. The kids want to do it with other citrus too.  I think it will be fun to see what sent we like the best.  As an added bonus I run the vinegar soaked peals through the garbage disposal to help clean and freshen it.

Holidays on a dime – Read all about it! December 2, 2012

Image Over time we have collected a lot of winter and holiday books.   In fact I know this is not all of them. We have some board books in the boys room that I have not puled yet. My kids love being read to and I love reading for them. I am pulling all of the winter and holiday books and putting them in a basket under the Christmas tree. If you wanted to be super fancy you could wrap a box like a present to keep the books in but I don’t have time for that. The Christmas tree is in the room we spend most of our time in so I hope that the kids will enjoy having the special books under the tree. I think I will also help remind me to stop and read to them during this crazy time of year. With Hanukkah starting on Saturday I am sure that we will be reading the Hanukkah books this week.
